Glee never had revolutionary storylines, nor were they less offensive in the first 2 seasons than now. What made Glee much better back then was that the main actors were good actors, who gave their characters a heat and soul, the music choices were much wider, not 90% top 40 hits, the characters were still in character, and most of the Glee club members were actual underdogs (Mercedes, Kurt, Rachel, Artie, Tina, later Quinn).
